Vaccination against pneumococcal infections
Prevenar 13
Composition and form of release:
  • Prevenar 13 is a pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugated pneumococcal vaccine (13-valent).
  • Suspension for intramuscular injection 0.5 ml/dose.
  • In a single dose (0.5 ml) in a disposable syringe complete with injection needle.
  • Manufacturer: Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals, Ireland.
Indications:
Prevention of pneumococcal infections such as:
  • out-of-hospital pneumonias,
  • otitis media,
  • meningitis,
  • bacteremia,
  • sepsis.
Diseases caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Age recommendations and vaccination schedule:
  • Vaccination is given at 2, 3, and 12 months of age.
  • If the child has not received the Prevenar 13 vaccine before age 2, a single injection is given.
Method of administration:
  • The vaccine is administered in a single dose of 0.5 ml, intramuscularly.
  • Children of the first years of life, the vaccine is injected into the upper-outer surface of the middle third of the thigh.
  • Persons older than 2 years of age - in the deltoid muscle of the shoulder.
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to previous administration of Prevenar 13 or Prevenar (including anaphylactic shock and severe generalized allergic reactions).
  • Hypersensitivity to diphtheria anatoxin and/or excipients.
  • Infectious or non-infectious diseases in the period of exacerbation. Vaccination is carried out after recovery or during remission.
